Cat's Paw Pad SwollenDecember 4, 2008 3:31 PM

Q: My cat had something stuck in the pad on his foot. It came out, but today the pad is swollen and full of pus. What should I do?

A: It is extremely important that you get to your veterinarian as soon as possible. Your cat has an infection and will need antibiotics. If left untreated for too long the infection can extend down to the bone and become a much bigger problem. In the meantime, it is ok to clean the foot with peroxide and soak it in warm water.
